Adult Skills Weekend (W & SW Scotland Region) Fri 10th to Sun 12th May Where: Lapwing Lodge
West and South West Region are hosting an Adult Skills Weekend at Lapwing Lodge on the 10-12 May 2024.
The weekend will offer Adult Leaders sessions of basic scouting skills plus the opportunity to find out more and have a go at several Adventurous Activities and how to obtain Permits.
Leaders are able to tailor the weekend to suit their needs, anything from a day visit to a full weekend, either catered our self-catering, accommodation or camping. Session will be allocated on a first come basis with notification of slot times after the closing date.
There will be information sessions in the evening and a social camp fire to learn some new songs and camp fire activities.
PLEASE NOTE: If selecting Nights Away this will be a full weekend option you will not have time to take part in anything else.

B2 Bell Boating Training Sat 11th May (10:00am - 4:00pm) Where: Invertrossachs Scout Campsite
This course is suitable for those looking to gain their B2 Permit. No bell boating experience is required, however some water experience would be beneficial. The training day will take you through the process of taking a group out on the water in a bell boat and cover all paddling and safety aspects. Assessments will then be planned at a later date and can be done on a one-to-one basis with a group from your own section or other opportunities for assessment can be discussed.

B1 Stand Up Paddleboarding Training Sat 11th May (10:00am - 4:00pm) Where: Invertrossachs Scout Campsite
This course is suitable for those looking to gain their B1 permit and who have some experience of using a SUP. The training day will take you through the personal paddling skills required as well as group management on the water, and sharing ideas for activities and games. Please note that we do not currently have any SUP Assessors in the Region however there are plans in place to achieve this and an assessment opportunity will be offered as soon as we are able to.

B1 Raft Building (Traditional) Training Sat 11th May (10:00am - 4:00pm) Where: Invertrossachs Scout Campsite
This course is suitable for those looking to gain their B1 permit. Some knowledge of knots and lashings is useful, but not essential. The training day will take you through the process of supporting a team through building a raft and then cover all safety aspects in terms of launching and supervising on the water. Assessments will then be planned at a later date and can be done on a one-to-one basis with a group from your own section or other opportunities for assessment can be discussed.

Camping and Outdoor Skills Weekend Sat 18th (9:30am) to Sun 19th May (4:00pm)Where: Barrwood Scout Campsite, Stirling A weekend covering the basic skills needed for taking young people camping such as cooking, tent pitching, risk assessments, etc. and teaching young people practical skills including axes and saws, knots and lashings, map reading etc. This weekend is useful for anyone who wishes to brush up on their skills, work to gain a Nights Away permit, or complete training needed for their Wood Badge. |

A Mountain Skills course is a great way to learn the essential skills you will need to enjoy the mountains in the UK safely. Whether you'd like to feel more confident using a map, you have ambitions to climb Everest or become a Mountain Leader, a Mountain Skills course is a great first step.
This is a Progression into more mountainous terrain from the Hill Skills and a reasonable level of fitness is recommended for this course as it will take place in higher terrain, with 5-6 hours spent on the hill and the potential for an evening session included as well. All of our Skills Courses will be ran by our Mountain Training Scotland approved tutor team. |

A fun, interactive and informative weekend covering Modules A - J of the young leader scheme. Open to Young Leaders from Forth Region, this annual training event helps build skills and confidence. It covers all training needed (except first aid) and will explain the process for completing the YL belt. People who have already completed Module A can join later on Friday. The cost (£25 - £30) is usually covered by the YL's Group. This will be collected separately from this booking. Note: An adult must make the booking using their own contact details. The YL's name should be entered in the "notes" field. |

A Hill Skills course is your key to getting started in countryside and moorland walking. No previous hill walking experience is required because the content of the course is aimed at beginners.
