What is Compass?


Compass is a powerful set of online tools for Members to manage their Scouting administrative activities in one place. A phased re-introduction in Spring 2016 is being planned and further information can be found using the Compass Updates link. For those of you who used Compass when it was first launched there should not be many changes with the screens however updated User Guides will be available in addition to local support.

Compass’s functionality, in addition to supporting the Group and Section leaders, provides functionality across all roles in The Scout Association (TSA).  Functions to be released will allow Members (dependent on their role) to:

  • View their personal profile
  • Search for other adult members
  • Add adult members
  • Add roles to new and existing members
  • View Reports
  • View and amend their Scouting Hierarchy (add sections to their Group etc)
  • Adult Training
  • Permits

Please note restored Compass will initially only support adult records.

How will Compass be rolled out?

There will be a phased roll out of Compass and it is important that Members read HQ and local Communications. Superusers have been appointed who will support the roll out however as this is a short term role it is important that actions required by Members are completed as required.

Members will be given access according to their role and the Phase within which their role is required to carry out actions within Compass. The roll out plan will be sent out once finalised and information on the plan will be provided on the Forth Region website Compass pages.

Support Materials

A range of support resources are being developed to assist different roles in using Compass. These are available here; from the start of the roll-out. Updates are posted regularly and include new FAQs and answers based on issues highlighted by Phase 1 and 2 users.
