Go Forth to Netherlands 2020 Cycle tour of Netherlands Wanted: Youth Members aged ~11 – 15 (Scouts and first year Explorers) for an International Experience.
When: Exact dates to be confirmed but likely between 30th June and 11th July 2020 Prior UK training events & meet-ups will be scheduled. These will include an introductory weekend (indoor sleeping) and cycle meetings. The first introductory weekend will take place on 15th - 16th December, cost £25.
What: A cycle tour around the southern part of the Netherlands. Provisional Route: Newcastle (overnight ferry) – Ijmuiden – Gouda - Tilburg – Rotterdam – Leiden – Ijmuiden – ferry return to UK. Starting with an overnight ferry from Newcastle to Ijmuiden, each cycle day will be interspersed with an activity day. Typical cycle distances of 25 to 50 miles per day between accommodation bases (around 2 to4 hrs cycling). Accommodation in local Scout halls / tents depending upon group size and exact route details. Activities will range from cheese museums to a theme park (Efteling), including windmills, canals, beaches and exploring all the Netherlands has to offer.
Cost: £750 - £850 depending on final arrangements for travel, excursions, accommodation and exchange rates. Participants own fund raising will be supported. No commitment or payment until after the first training weekend and cost is finalised.
